Peace building and Social Cohesion

WCAYI promotes peace building, social cohesion, and conflict prevention among refugee and host communities in Palorinya Refugee Settlement and Obongi District.

We implement community-driven strategies that address the root causes of conflict and strengthen peaceful coexistence through:

  • Strengthening Conflict Early Warning and Early Response Mechanisms (CEWERM) to proactively identify and address conflict triggers
  • Training grassroots peace ambassadors, including youth and women leaders, in mediation, dialogue, and conflict resolution
  • Facilitating peace dialogues, storytelling platforms, and participatory forums to support community-led problem-solving
  • Implementing community cohesion initiatives such as sports tournaments, communal gardens, food and cultural galas.
