Empowering Young Minds: Life Skills Sessions at Secondary Schools in Obongi.
On December 4th, 2025, Jointly with other stakeholders, the Women, Children, and Youth Initiative (WCAYI) Obongi successfully conducted two life skills sessions in local secondary schools Palorinya and Luru Secondary schools reaching students through engaging and interactive activities designed to nurture essential personal and social skills.
The sessions focused on decision-making, self-esteem, communication, and self-awareness, key areas that equip young people with the tools to navigate school, friendships, and future challenges confidently. Through group discussions, role plays, and reflective exercises, students were encouraged to explore their values, express themselves clearly, and make thoughtful choices in everyday situations.
Feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing newfound confidence in their ability to communicate effectively, understand themselves better, and make informed decisions. Teachers also noted a noticeable improvement in participation and engagement during class discussions following the sessions.
At WCAYI Obongi, we believe that empowering young people with life skills lays the foundation for stronger communities. By helping students build confidence, resilience, and critical thinking skills today, we are shaping the leaders and change-makers of tomorrow.
We look forward to continuing our work in schools across Obongi, ensuring that every child and young person has access to the knowledge and support they need to thrive.
in our mission to empower youth because strong young people build stronger communities.
