Jointly with other stakeholders we commemorated the International Day of the Girl Child under the global theme “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead”, with the sub-theme “From Learning to Certification: Every Step Matters.” The event celebrated the potential of every girl and reinforced our collective commitment to her education, protection, and empowerment, implemented jointly with other stakeholders.
The commemoration featured a mock parliamentary session, where learners assumed leadership roles, debated key issues, and practiced public speaking and decision-making skills. This was followed by speeches from learners highlighting the real challenges girls face in accessing quality education, including poverty, early marriage, long distances to school, lack of scholastic materials, and limited community support.
To promote inclusion and unity, both boys and girls participated in friendly sporting activities, fostering teamwork, mutual respect, and shared responsibility in supporting the rights of the girl child.
During debates and discussions, learners openly shared the barriers limiting girls’ access to education, raising awareness among peers, teachers, parents, and community leaders, and inspiring practical actions toward creating a safer and more supportive learning environment, implemented jointly with other stakeholders.
Through this commemoration, we reaffirmed our belief that when a girl is educated, supported, and heard, she becomes a powerful force for positive change in her family, community, and nation.
