Peace building and Social Cohesion
WCAYI promotes peace building, social cohesion, and conflict prevention among refugee and host communities in Palorinya Refugee Settlement and Obongi District.
We implement community-driven strategies that address the root causes of conflict and strengthen peaceful coexistence through:
- Strengthening Conflict Early Warning and Early Response Mechanisms (CEWERM) to proactively identify and address conflict triggers
- Training grassroots peace ambassadors, including youth and women leaders, in mediation, dialogue, and conflict resolution
- Facilitating peace dialogues, storytelling platforms, and participatory forums to support community-led problem-solving
- Implementing community cohesion initiatives such as sports tournaments, communal gardens, food and cultural galas.

- Increasing trust and mutual understanding between refugee and host communities.
- Reducing tensions and incidents of violence.
- Enhancing peaceful coexistence and social harmony.
- Creating safe environment for interaction, and reinforce shared values, contributing to a peaceful, inclusive, and resilient community environment.
Thus WCAYI ensures that women, children, and youth are actively engaged in building sustainable peace and preventing violence in their communities
